Training Programs

GPIS Instructors have years of experience educating law enforcement officers as well as conducting training seminars for public sector investigators and business managers.  Our instructors are trained and certified instructors who have conducted training classes as representatives of the following organizations:

     National White Collar Crime Center

     Indiana Law Enforcement Academy

     Louisiana State University – Academy of Counter Terrorism Education

GPIS Financial Crime, Identity Theft Investigation and Counterfeiting classes are developed and consisting of material and instruction that include examples and case study information taken from the law enforcement, and private investigative, career of GPIS Instructor and Operations Manager Dominic W. Zultanski. 

Dominic has had an extensive background of organized crime and fraud investigations involving large scale embezzlements, complex schemes and organized criminal groups from Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI, New York, NY and Atlanta, GA conducting large scale financial assaults across the Midwest. 

Dominic has lead Federal conspiracy investigations effecting and working with such private entities as the National Football League, Motion Picture Association of America, Recording Industry of America, Nextel / Sprint, and Microsoft.  Investigating their cases while worked with them to gather intelligence and organize policies and protocols to combat those fraud and counterfeiting groups from future activity across the country. 

Dominic has lead several local, state and federal investigative task forces organized together for the purposes of specific cases.  Members of some of these participating agencies included the United States Secret Service, United States Postal Inspection Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Commerce Department and United States Department of Homeland Security Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. 

Dominic has also been involved with nationally training local, state and federal law enforcement officers in fraud, identity theft, organized crime and counterfeiting investigations as an adjunct instructor for The Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, The Louisiana State University Academy of Counter – Terrorism Education, and the National White Collar Crime Center.


GPIS Instructors have trained law enforcement officers from Indiana, Michigan, Kansas, Illinois, Louisiana, New Mexico, Florida, Wisconsin, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Georgia.  Employees and Members of such agencies as the United States Secret Service, United States Postal Inspection Service and Professionals Against Confidence Crimes have benefited from training offered by GPIS Instructors.

Fundamentals of Fraud and Financial Crime Investigations

The Fundamentals of Fraud and Financial Crimes Investigations course has been developed in a one or two day format intended to give the beginning and intermediate fraud and financial crime investigator the tools they need to begin working cases and advance their skills.  A complete overview of fraud and identity theft issues will be covered.

When completed the student will have an understanding of the financial transaction system and identify specific information that is needed to successfully pursue the suspects that prey on their victims by use of the financial system.  Investigators will come away with the tools needed to hit the ground running with, not only high quality investigations, but also the ability to train front line officers on what information is needed in police reports and identify the importance of that correct information on the report.


The one day class focuses on assisting law enforcement detectives tasked with case assignments not necessarily specific to; but that may involve a measure of fraud and financial crime investigation as well as the patrol officers tasked with responding to calls of active fraud or financial crime situations and filing subsequent reports or effecting in progress arrests. 

The one day class can also be formatted for the non-law enforcement personnel, such as loss prevention investigators with financial institutions and merchants, who need to identify fraudulent activity to assist their employers protect their assets.

     Fraud Overview - Credit Card, Check, Identity Theft, and Internet Fraud will be covered

     Counterfeiting, Organized Crime Activity, and Conspiracy Investigations

The two day format is for the beginning financial crimes investigator and will utilize the teaching tools of more authentic case studies and the participants will be asked to put those skills, they learn in class, to the test with in class investigative exercises based on actual case examples that will span the two days.

Basic Fundamentals of Counterfeit Operations and Investigations

The Basic Fundamentals of Counterfeit Operations and Investigations course has been developed in a one or two day format intended to give the investigator a clear understanding of what types of items they will routinely be exposed to while working investigations involving counterfeiting and counterfeit goods. 

This one day class focuses on assisting law enforcement detectives tasked with case assignments that involve fraud and counterfeiting, patrol officers tasked with responding to calls of active counterfeiting situations and filing subsequent reports, as well as loss prevention investigators with financial institutions and merchants.

Class participants will get an understanding of investigations that involve several different types of commonly counterfeited items.  Class participants will be trained on how to identify these counterfeit items, how these items are commonly counterfeited, gain an understanding of how the suspects get the information to counterfeit and understand common methods of using these counterfeit items.  The following commonly counterfeited items will be covered in the class:

  • Credit Cards
  • Checks
  • United States Currency
  • Driver’s License, Identification Cards, and Immigration Documents
  • Event Tickets
  • Movies, Music and Software
  • Other Intellectual Property Issues

The two day course goes further in depth into the case study information and material of the one day basic course and expounds into further investigation material needed to successfully bring counterfeiters, and their entire crew of co-conspirators, to justice in your community.  The following additional areas of information will be covered with the additional day of instruction:

HOSTING A TRAINING CLASS:

When your agency hosts a class (by providing a training site and equipment) your agency will receive four (4) free seats for your choice of participants.  GPIS will be responsible for all registration and participant coordination and GPIS will bring all needed class and instruction materials.  Classes are based on a minimum enrollment of thirty (30) participants and GPIS will be responsible for all instructor expenses for travel, food and lodging.  Your agency simply has to inform us of the site and date and we will take care of the rest.
