Gargoyle Preferred Investigative Services, LLC
Internet Auction Investigation and Verification Services
(eBay, Craig’s List, etc.)
Everyday millions upon millions of users log on to Internet auction sites such as eBay and Craig’s List. Buyers, sellers, and shoppers all utilize these online shopping centers for volumes and volumes of goods and services everyday. The unfortunate reality is that wherever there is the free exchange of goods, services, and finances there is always someone trying to gain more of the finances for less of the goods and/or services then the provider of the finances expected. In short that means that fraud is a constant and people that commit fraud always gravitate to areas of higher sales volume. The fraudsters will continue to gain effectiveness until the potential victims do things to stop them and/or hold them accountable for the actions.
GPIS, Inc. Investigators are licensed investigators that have years of law enforcement and private investigation experience in detecting and investigating fraud and they want to be available to you when you are involved in an Internet auction and you want to have the piece of mind that your transaction is legitimate and the person you are dealing with is NOT one of those fraudsters looking at you as a fresh piece of online meat. Our investigators are available to assist you in several aspects involved in the Internet auction transaction process. Our investigators will assist you from becoming victimized from those who may be advertising faulting merchandise or those trying to buy your high dollar item with a fraudulent check or other financial instrument. Our investigators can also be the trusted intermediary, you are looking for, to make sure you will not be victimized by a “suspicious” party or transaction request that you are “just not sure of”.
Our service is a slice of insurance in an area that offers little when fraud rears its ugly head. When Internet auction users get victimized by fraudsters the usual response, by the auction sites, is to suspend the fraudsters account. That solution is no solution at all because the fraudsters simply open new accounts and start all over again; all while the victim very rarely ever gets any money back. GPIS, Inc. Internet Auction services are based on years of law enforcement and investigation experience that has shown us the areas that can cause most fraudsters to retreat and back out of a fraudulent transaction BEFORE the balance is stolen from the victim forever. Our investigative services will be only a small fraction of the agreed upon bidding price (10%) and that small fee will assist you from losing the remaining (90%) of your hard earned money because once you follow through with a transaction it is very difficult to get law enforcement involved (in what they perceive as a civil transaction and a case only you could pursue by suing the unknown suspect) and even if they did get involved your chance of getting any money back is nil.
Services for Buyers:
GPIS, Inc. Investigators will assist Internet Auction Buyers by traveling to the location where the actual auction item is located. Our investigator will meet with the item seller and take a series of digital pictures of the actual item. The digital pictures will be immediately emailed to the buyer along with a GPIS, Inc. Investigative Report on the seller and the actual item. A GPIS, Inc. Investigator will communicate with the buyers and make sure that investigative report outlines all of the interested questions that the buyer would like answered by the seller.
GPIS, Inc. Investigators are not mechanics, electricians or other forms if functional inspectors (other than the assessment of an actual item being turned on and actually operated in the means defined by the buyers wishes during the inspection). If the buyer is interested in having the actual item inspected for functionality GPIS, Inc. will contact a local licensed inspector or mechanic for the type of item that the actual item is. This person will conduct a thorough assessment of the items functionality and a report will be supplied to the buyer at the buyer’s expense of extra fees for the more thorough functionality inspection.
Services for Sellers:
GPIS, Inc. Investigators will assist Internet Auction Sellers by traveling to the location where the buyer is located. Our investigator will meet with the buyer and work with the buyer, and an actual financial institution, to validate the buyer’s form of payment for the actual auction item. Our investigators will also gather personal information pertaining to the buyer and validate the buyer’s identity. Our investigators lastly will document this information and hold it until the entire transaction process is complete. Should the transaction process not be completed with the seller’s satisfaction then this information is available for a civil law suit and/or criminal investigation to hold the party responsible for the actions they perpetrated.
